The reply feature on Twitter is incredibly unique. Unlike email or many social media platforms the reply is public. It is visible to everyone. Learning how to send a reply on Twitter is simple. When someone sends a message it shows up as @yourusername. Locate the update you want, click on it, type your message and hit update. You have sent a reply. That’s it. Post over.

Okay, seriously, the @reply is a very useful and excellent conversational and networking feature. Every @reply is a link to the user profile page, one click to the introduction of a new user and their time line. But is someone sends you a message, or you send them one, anyone can reply to it. This means you have opened up a conversation and connections to anyone. Nice huh!

If you want to send an @reply simply type in the @ followed by the username and then type your message. You are then done…hit update. The process is quick and painless. It is the ultimate in brevity and simplicity. A message for everyone to see but personalized to the user you are sending it too.

The @reply is also a great tool to gauge who and what people are tweeting about. simply look at the @reply tab and see everyone that is sending you a message. You know who your loyal, interested and active followers are. It gives you a queue – oh, I need to respond to this person, they sent me a message. It helps you self manage by deciding for you who to twitter with.
